Frequently asked questions about dog coats
Why put a coat on a dog?
To protect it from the cold, damp, and wind. This is particularly useful for puppies, senior dogs, short-haired breeds, or even sporting dogs after intense exertion in cold weather.
How do I choose the right coat size for my dog?
Measure the back length, chest girth, and sometimes the neck. Follow the brand's size guide.
My dog doesn't like wearing a coat, what should I do?
Get him used to it gently, a few minutes a day, by praising him and associating it with outings.
Which dogs need coats the most?
Small dogs, senior dogs, short-haired dogs, and breeds sensitive to the cold (such as whippets, chihuahuas, and bulldogs).
Is a coat useful for canihiking or canicross?
Yes, during rest periods or after exercise, to prevent muscle cooling.
